This ultra-modern home is just 6 miles from the city , but it feels worlds away.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom contemporary at 1031 Canton Ave in Milton abuts Blue Hill Reservation, offering easy access to miles of trails. Residents don’t have to leave home to immerse themselves in nature, however. The 3.22-acre estate is home to its own arboretum with dozens of exotic trees.

“It’s just one of those special places where you walk in and you can just feel your blood pressure go down,” said listing agent Janice Bosworth of Coldwell Banker Realty . “You feel like you’re in the country.”

In addition to the lush grounds, the property includes a 3,400-square-foot main house with 24 built-in speakers throughout, as well as a separate two-story art/yoga studio. On May 8, the listing price dropped from $3,800,000 to $3,200,000.

In the main house, a concrete wall separates the foyer from the kitchen and dining and living areas, which share an open floor plan. Massive picture windows in the dining room offer extended views of the lush grounds and allow natural light to pour in, softening the look of the concrete floors.

In the kitchen, a sizable island with white stone countertops seats six and features a built-in wine chiller and ice maker. There’s plenty of storage space in a small room off to the side, which serves as a pantry/mudroom, with a row of hooks for coats and bags on one wall and built-in wood shelves along the other.

The kitchen is open to the living room, where the same style of nearly floor-to-ceiling windows might make residents forget they’re sitting inside. A double-sided wood-burning fireplace with a gray brick surround partially separates the living and dining areas and adds a coziness to the home’s industrial style. Radiant heat in the floors also keeps the open space warm underfoot.

One bedroom and a full bath, both with concrete floors and white walls, are to the right of the entrance on this level, and the other four bedrooms are upstairs. Up there, light-colored wood floors, white walls, and an abundance of tall windows add to the crisp, modern atmosphere created on the first floor. The spacious, front-to-back primary bedroom has a walk-in closet and a stylish en-suite bathroom with black tile walls and floors, a wall-mounted vanity, and a frameless walk-in shower.

The other three bedrooms are all the same size and setup, with closets along the left wall and pairs of the same oversized windows seen throughout the rest of the home offering views of the expansive grounds.

The second level is also home to the laundry room, which has a sink; a full bath with a tile floor, double-sink vanity, and a combination shower/bathtub; and an open sitting room.

Outside, the separate, 2,250-square-foot studio looks a bit like something out of a  film, with trails of ivy snaking across the façade, thick enough to obscure the stone walls. Inside, the airy building gets a modern touch from a stereo system and radiant heat in the floors. The space embraces the indoor/outdoor theme of the home, with front and back rollup-door entrances on each level that open to create an aerated, pandemic-friendly space to play, work, or simply bask in the serenity of the estate.

“Once you get into the property and you close the gates, you feel as though you’re miles and miles away from the city, somewhere in the country,” Bosworth said.
