Tucked away in the cool hills of St Andrew is a tropical modern sanctuary with a sprawling great room. The 4,000 sq ft warm shell was transformed by Joelle Smith, lead designer and CEO of If Walls Could Talk, into a casual, salubrious oasis inspired by the existing clean lines, which included large black framed aluminium windows, open floor plan, and stone clad exterior pool deck.

Natural wood tones and pure white walls provide the ideal palette for copper and gold accents and light fixtures, a handwoven leather rug, plush leather sling accent chairs and an oatmeal sectional upholstered in perennial performance fabric. An infinity glass banister maintains clean lines along jatoba clad stairs, while the inclusion of potted umbrella plants and miniature ponytail palms suspended on a matte black metal plant stand connects the interior and exterior spaces.

The seamless transition from the outdoor patio and pool deck to the great room is accommodated by floor-to-ceiling multi-slide stacked doors.

Each casement window presents as wall art, framing the lush exterior landscape.

The great room boasts a modern interior with custom cedar and oak millwork, large format porcelain floor tiles, marble mosaic backsplash tiles, quartzite countertops, mixed metals, leather accents and a large, minimalist open floor plan that provides the perfect space for entertaining or simply lounging at home.
